  2. @ Dulce see I didn't include love jones because to me it is idelic it's not actual ya know, it was way to artistic and as far as black folks goes who's doing all that? Unless its just on some that's how we get down in the chi-town type love. It's never too late to see these movies each one of these movies are great and classics in their own rights. Your collection is not complete without checking them out.

  5. from Dulce, hey girl we may have to agree to to disagree on this one. to a certain extent i can see how you say it was idealic (although larenz and nia had mad drama before they worked out in the end) but how was it too artistic? although we as blacks share certain commonalities, we are a diverse people and go way beyond the stereotypes.

i am currently working on a book of poems that i plan on releasing in the next two years. my other main reader (and one of my inspirations) Dr Mike Check is an accomplished writer, not only has he published his own book but he is currently working on movie scripts and has worked for newspapers and magazines.

while i am a nurse (here in the DC metro) poetry and art are my other main loves and i am surrounded by educated black photographers, writers, muscians, visual artists and dancers all the time that host workshops and events, teach classes and own businesses. in fact many of them choose not to have a 9 to 5 like me and allow their creativity to be the vessel of econonic gain.

sometimes it is easy to get caught up in the artist and not see the whole person. one thing i love about love jones is that it introduced the world to renaissance educated black people that do exist. we are not ballers, bourgeise or gangstas, but we are smart, we are educated, we are artistic and we are beautifully human like everyone else.

the more i watch it the closer i feel that experience of the movie, so please forgive me for being biased.

  6. @Dulce you're right we will have to agree to disagree, while I know that the whole boho movement is strong its just not as felt at least not by me on the west coast. I know we all have diverse experiences and I try my hand at poetry I have pages of poetry but again the movie was more artistic and idealized then the average black couple that work a 9-5 do. My brother and father are both musicians but they do other things to make money as well as perform their craft for money, so...like you said we will have to agree to disagree. On that movie but that is my perspective and that's what makes the world so diverse. :-P have a good weekend.

  7. I'm just so glad you didn't put Love Jones on here. I'm sorry @ Dulce for what I'm about to say, but Love Jones as a "love story" is highly overrated. Nia Long was f*cking up the whole time. She just gone leave to be with another dude after this cat read a poem FOR YOU at the poetry club, showed initiative by illegally looking at your cashed check in the record store to get your info, let her take photos of him while stripping, and then rocked your world!?!?! Then, your lightweight salty after you come back because you saw him with someone else? What you expect??? THEN, YOU GET WITH ONE OF HIS HOMEBOYS??? HELL NAW. That movie is horrible. There ain't a man alive that would let that ride then get back with her.

Ahhhhh, I had to get that off my chest, thank you. And I like the site!

  8. @ED I never even thought of it from that angle and you know what ED you dead on with it. Nia's character did get shady then she started seeing his homeboy and shit, there are rules to dating you can't just do that shit. I appreciate you for coming through and getting that off your chest I could see that was messing with you for a minute lol, and thank you for liking my site. I appreciate that truly.
