GETTING READY TO POSSIBLY SING MY SWAN SONG

As I was reading my sisters blog who just started blogging it occurred to me that her followship is one off from mines, yep I'm going there while I am happy for my sister I'm sad for myself! I've been blogging since what 2006 and my readership still is low like a strippers skirt, what's up with that? Can you not relate to me? Am I not friendly, personable, at the very least don't I illicit a laugh with some of the things I have been through in my checkered past? I mean come on now not saying that my sister doesn't write a great blog but damn she is new to the game and already her readership is the same as mine and she just barely started. That shit right there is enough to make me say fuck it I'm not writing a blog anymore because no one even reads this shit.

So what's the point? I know there are trillions of people all over the world who write blogs and there is not enough time in the day for every blog to be read but this is just downright disheartening I know I have a tendency to whip out my soapbox but I do it because I care. I have a tendency to be all hail fire and brimstone and just big sisterish but that's the role I was given what can I do? I don't know how to change my stripes and I wouldn't want to even if I could I like me, you might not but I do!

So what say you good people is my journey blogging here over, should I throw in the towel and just find another creative outlet because obviously y'all ain't giving a damn. Maybe my time has come to an end and I possibly should say goodbye but this time for real. If no one is reading it then its just a tree in the woods that fell with no one there to hear it fall. Either way it goes someone tell me something... I can take the truth lay it on me, please and thank you.

  1. If you're blogging for readers and Adsense then you might wanna change things up, but if you blogging for you then keep moving forward. Every one has a blog and every one blogs the same things. Its just the way its is now a days.

  3. NEVER measure your shit with someone else's stick as you'll drive yourself CRAZY trying to keep up with the "Blogging Joneses."
And in that case, MOST bloggers should have quit LONG ago because there's always someone getting more hits than you.
If you blog as a creative outlet, then DO YOU and continue to get your blog on.

But yeah, like Wes said, if you do it for the readers and the dough, CHANGE.THE.GAME.FOR.THESE.HOES!

  5. I've been sitting here with your site open for a little while, tryna think about any suggestions I could give.

I agree with Wes and Savv about "if you're blogging for yourself". But it seems like you want to blog for readership/money.

I would suggest looking up the current trends (Google Trends, Yahoo Buzz, and the like) and see what people are interested in. And then blog about it. Bring your own perspective about the situation. that may give you a jump in readership.

Also, (since you are comparing) what does your sister blog about? What's her format? Don't copy, just adopt it to your unique vision and style.

    Hope that helps?

    Good luck!!!

  6. What up sis;
seems everyone has already said what I would say. I think you should keep doing what you're doing and don't worry if 1 or 1 million people read it as long as at the end of the day you're hapy with what you put out. I'm sure there are things you could do to get money but I don't blog for money so I don't know. I wouldn't mind, but I just don't. If you're like me, and blog for the love of it than you're straight. just get the blog name out there, I guess... sorry if I wasn't much help.

  7. hey sista girl...i can relate because i somewhat live for comments sometimes. but not any old comments, comments from readers that really care for and feel for what i am saying.

since those types of readers and people are few and far between these days then i just keep it moving. i truly appreciate you and dr. mike check for always showing me love.

but i know deep down inside that my blogging (comments or no comments)helps me on so many levels. it helps me express my emotions, organize my thoughts, plan topics for my health forums, keeps my creativity flowing and if you want to get down right simple, it keeps my typing speed (wpm) on point! (watch out all you secretaries of the world! LOL)

  9. Don't worry big sis, I'm tryin to steal ya shine. I think you helped me find an outlet to express my thoughts and feelings. Some of the people who have been following me I have checked out their blogs and followed them as well. I love reading your blogs, because they have humor, and there are others that make you think aobut things that the average person wouldn't think about. You do your thug thizzle, and keep cranking them blog posts. You still have a much bigger following than I, and that's a good thing. Most of what I write about is either what I'm experiencing, poetry, or just crazy random shit I'm thinkin about. Comparing my blog to yours... there is no comparison. This was your thing first, and I won't take that from you. Sure enough you may have a soapbox moment or two, but you are an amazing writer. Don't be discouraged about numbers. They are just that. You have a voice that I'm sure is helping someone out there who may be going through the same thing. Even if you only had one follower, to that person, your message may speak to them and they hear you. Be glad of your listeners, someone is paying attention. ;)

  10. @Dulce @sin-c @my sister, I'm just being a huge brat basically. I really do love to write but I think on some levels I want to help people also. Like the question I answered not long ago about dating I really felt so energized writing that post because someone needed it and they reached out to ME to ask me for help that was amazing. My sister writes an amazing blog and I was just having a moment of sibling competition I would never want to take her voice away or cause her not to enjoy her new found power. That was selfish of me and I'm sorry. I enjoy reading your blogs also @jewel I enjoy being your sister even if that means I get on your nerves ALL THE TIME.

Thank you for everyone that read my blog and left a comment to try and help me out I appreciate that. I think I need to figure out a way to help me help myself with this blog, but thank you guys tremendously. I really do appreciate the input.
